Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 12, 1958.
The cross in the arms is the so-called "Jääkäriristi", Jäger Cross, honouring Finnish independence fighters during WW I. Kortesjärvi had the highest "Jäger" percentage of population in all of Finland during the early 20th century.
