Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted and abolished in 1970, regranted on November 16, 1998.
The wheel symbolizes the main factors of development of town: the road Riga-Tilsit and the widely-known markets. The oak leaves symbolize both the Samogitian fortitude and the 13 oaks preserved around the town as monuments of nature.
