History: Formed at Gosport in February 1916.

Motto: Hostem a coelo expellare

Origin/meaning

The Broom alludes to Major Mannock, VC who served with the Squadron and who used to exhort his pilots to ”sweep the … Huns from the Air”. The Motto translates as To weep the enamy from the sky”. The Badge was approved in February 1937.
