History: Formed at Cramlington in June 1916.

On a branch a long-eared owl all proper.
Motto: Alis nocturnis
Origin/meaning
Being a night bomber unit the Owl, being a night flying bird of prey, was considered a suitable pictorial representation. The Motto translates as ”On the wings of the night”. The Badge was approved in September 1937.
