NO 857 SQUADRON, FAA

History: First formed in 1944 at Naval Air Station Squantum, Massachusetts, USA as a Grumman Avenger equipped Torpedo-Bomber-Reconnaissance Squadron for HMS Indomitable for the final 16 months of World War Two. Reformed in 1982 from B Flight of No 849 Squadron.

Official blazon
English Blue; issunat from water barry wavy of six white and blue a dexter hand erect proper grasping a short sword white pommel and hilt gold.

Motto: Animis opbusque parati.

Origin/meaning

The Latin Motto translates as "Prepared in mind and hearts". The Badge was approved on 14 October 1944.
