Origin/meaning
The badge shows the Insignia of the Austro-Hungarian Submarine service, indicating the Class Namesake the Lieutenant-Commander Georg Ludwig Ritter von Trapp (1880-1947). During World War I one of the Most Wellknown Austro-Hungarian Submarine Comamnders, his SMU 5 did on 25 April 1915 sank the French Armoured Cruiser Leon Gambetta.
