Wappen von Beilstein (Mosel)/Arms (crest) of Beilstein (Mosel)

The arms show the arms of the Knights of Braunshorn. The Knights of Braunshorn built their castle in the village in the early Middle Ages. The village developed rapidly and was granted city rights between 1309 and 1330.
The oldest seal of the city dates from 1336 and shows the canting horn of the Knights of Braunshorn. In 1488 the knights were beaten by the bishops of Trier and the city was part of Trier ever since. The Metternich family became the vassals of the bishops in 1652 until the last century. The colours of the arms were in 1951 decided as the colours of Trier.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
