GEISENHAUSEN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Landshut (until 1973 Vilsbiburg)
Additions : 1972 Bergham (partly); 1978 Diemannskirchen, Holzhausen (partly), Salksdorf
German | Über Schildfuß mit den bayerischen Rauten in Rot ein silbernes Haus mit Treppengiebel und zwei seitlichen Zinnentürmen; Schildhalter: ein von vorne gesehener wachsender silberner Engel. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms probably date from the late 15th century, as Geisenhausen received town rights in 1453. The base shows the diamonds of the Dukes of Bayern. The upper part shows a canting house (Haus), but looks more like a castle. During the centuries the shape and size of the house has changed considerably. The present arms were granted on October 10, 1953 and are based on the oldest seal.
