Origin/meaningKranichstein is a borough of Darmstadt, developed in the 1960s. In 1989 the local association to promote the borough (Förderverein) adopted the arms with a canting crane (Kranich) holding a stone (Stein). The crane was placed in front of the gable of the local renaissance hunting estate/castle.
