Lindenhardt was already mentioned as a town in 1280, but the oldest known seal dates from the late 15<sup>th</sup> century. The seal already shows the canting dragon (Lindwurm), as did all later seals and images. The dragon is the symbol of the local patron saint, Archangel St. Michael.
