Until 1802 the village was a possession of the State of Trier. Hence the old seals showed from the 16th century until 1802 the cross of the State of Trier and the local patron saint, St. Christopher. The seal from 1803-1866 showed the local fountain on which was shown a woman carrying a jug of water. In 1867 she was replaced by a man pouring water from a jug. The jug finally was granted as arms for the town in 1956. The colours are the colours of the State of Trier.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
