PENNEWITZ
State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Ilm-Kreis
Incorporated into : 2018 Ilmenau
Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on December 12, 1991. The upper half shows the lion, derived from the arms of the Counts of <a href=schwarzb|Schwarzberg]], who ruled the area for many centuries. The lower half shows some miner's tools, symbol for the copper mining in the area; and a wheel for the fact that historically village was known for its coach drivers.
