PFRONTEN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Ostallgäu (until 1973 Füssen)

Wappen von Pfronten/Arms (crest) of Pfronten
Official blazon
German In Rot auf silbernem Stein ein goldbewehrter silberner Falke mit gespreizten Flügeln.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 14, 1954 and were newly devised as the town did not have any historical arms.

The arms show a falcon on a mountain and are thus canting for the 11th century castle Falkenberg in the town. The colours are taken from the arms of the State of Augsburg, to which the town belonged before 1803.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
