POTSDAM-MITTELMARK (PM)

State : Brandenburg
Additions : 1993 Belzig, Brandenburg-Land, Potsdam-Land

Wappen von Potsdam-Mittelmark/Arms (crest) of Potsdam-Mittelmark
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 25, 1996.

The first quarter shows the arms of the Margraves of Brandenburg, who ruled the area for many centuries, and symbolises at the same time the present State of Brandenburg. The two keys in the fourth quarter symbolise the diocese of Brandenburg. The third quarter shows the gold and black bars of Sachsen. A part of the district historically belonged to Sachsen. The three oak leaves symbolise nature and forests, as well as the three former districts.

An eagle and oak leaf were also part of the arms of Potsdam-Land.
