Origin/meaning

The arms were designed and granted in 1937.

The fish symbolises the Starnberger See (lake) on which the town is situated. The lake historically was important for fisheries, nowadays for tourism.

The lower half shows the arms of the Dichtl von Tutzing family, who lived on the local castle from 1480-1662 and who owned most of the area in the municipality.
