GRÖTZINGEN
State : Baden-Württemberg
Urban district (Stadtkreis) : Karlsruhe
Incorporated into: 1974 Karlsruhe
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were proposed by the State Archives and adopted in 1901.
The arms combine the bend of Baden with the arms of the medieval Counts of Grötzingen. In 1190 the Counts of Grötzingen became extinct and the village was acquired by Margrave Rudolf I of Baden in 1220. In the 15th century the combination appeared on the local seals and the arms were thus based on these old seals.
