The first quarter shows the cross of the [[Trier (State)|State of Trier]]; the second the beheaded eagle of Lotharingen (Lorraine), the third the lion of the county of Saarbrücken and the bar of the Knights of Kerpen. All elements were also present in the former arms of the municipalities that were merged in 1974.
