KREUZTAL

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Siegen-Wittgenstein (until 1975 Siegen)
Additions: 1969 Amt Ferndorf, Burgholdinghausen, Buschhütten, Eichen (1960 Bockenbach, Stendenbach), Fellinghausen, Ferndorf, Kredenbach, Krombach, Littfeld, Mittelhees, Oberhees, Osthelden

Wappen von Kreuztal/Arms (crest) of Kreuztal
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 27, 1939.

The upper half shows a horn, derived from the 15th century seal of Krombach-Ferndorf. The lower half is a canting element (Kreuz=cross) and symbolises also the fact that the municipality consists of four valleys.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
