ANTON VON HENLE
Born: May 22, 1851
Deceased: October 11, 1927
Bishop of Passau, 1901-1906
Bishop of Regensburg, 1906-1927
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms show in I and IV the arms of the Diocese of Passau and in II and II a rooster. The rooster is a canting symbol (Henle can be translated as small rooster) as well as a symbol for vigilance. The inescutcheon shows the bust of St. Valentine, the patron saint of the diocese.
After his transfer to Regensburg the arms were not changed; the symbols for Passau were not replaced by the arms of the diocese of Regensburg.
