The black colour symbolises the family of the mother of the Bishop - McCarron of the Gaelic Ciar = Black. The fleur-de-lys symbolises the Baptismal Patron of Bishop Hyland - St Francis de Sales, the tinctures are the colours of St. Mary. | |||
