Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 27, 1971.

The balls are derived from the arms of the medieval Lords of Brohl. The two croziers symbolise the former possessions of the bishops of Köln and Trier, the Maria Laach Abbey and the Essen-Buchholz convent. The third quarter shows the arms of the Von Waldbott von Bassenheim family, who had several possessions in the area. The fourth quarter shows the arms of the Lords of Kempenich.
