Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 15, 2007.

The design refers to fishing and the cannery as the foundation of the community. The lower part resembles a net being drawn up, and the white shapes in the upper part symbolize cans and thus the historic site of the North Pacific Cannery. The green colour is a reference to the natural setting of the community.

Bald eagles are a prominent feature of local natural heritage, and the conifer branches refer to the forestry industry.

The porpoises are a local sea mammal, after which the geographical feature Porpoise Harbour is named. The branches further the reference to the forestry industry.
