WESTERFORD HIGH SCHOOL
Country: South Africa
Campus/location : Rondebosch, Cape Town, Western Cape
Afrikaans | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms are not officially granted.
The arms are an example of landscape heraldry that was devised by the wife of the founder principal, Mr Noel Taylor. It depicts sunset as seen from the school on the day the Taylors (then based in Simonstown) first visited Westerford. The maroon shape is an oak tree, of which there are several on the grounds, while the blue represents Devil’s Peak, part of the Table Mountain massif that dominates Cape Town.
The motto is Nil Nisi Optimum (nothing but the best).
