Region : Pohjanmaa
Former province : 1997-2009 Länsi-Suomi (until 1997 Vaasa)
Incorporated into : 2007 Vörå-Maxmo (2011 Vörå)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 19, 1954.
The triton is derived from the arms of the Numers family, who played a major role in the local history. At the same time the triton is a symbol for sailing and shipping. The fish and trefoil symbolise fishing and agriculture.
Literature : Pirinen, K. Local coats of arms in Finland (Suomen kunnallisvaakunat), Vantaa, 1982, 216 p.
