Official blazon

In Silber eine rote Stadtmauer mit goldenem Tor, bekrönt von drei runden Zinnentürmen, deren mittlerer doppelt gezinnt ist.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 3, 1972.

Steinheim received city rights in 1275 from Simon I, Bishop of Paderborn. The oldest seal is known from the 15th century and shows a wall with three towers. All later seals and images used the wall and towers, although sometimes with a gate.

The previous arms were granted on March 22, 1971.

These arms also showed the gate, but now with a green chief. The chief was added to distinguish the arms of the old municipality from those of the new municipality. The city council, however, did not lik ethe green chief and the arms were already changed after one year.

The first arms were granted on March 23, 1908 and were identical to the present arms in design.
