Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1952 to Herstedvester-Herstedøster municipality, and were continued in 1973 when the name of the municipality was changed.

The rooster symbolises the agriculture in the municipality. The two letters stand for Vester (west) and ster (east) and symbolise the two parishes of East and West Hersted.
