Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 15, 1865, again to Gembloux-sur-Orneau on August 19, 1977.
The arms were based on an image in a book describing the Walloon part of Brabant from 1692, even though the arms have been in use at least a century earlier, see images below. The meaning of the three keys, however, is not clear. They probably are a symbol for the powerful Gembloux Abbey, which was founded in 933 and whose Abbots had the title of Counts of Gembloux.
