The arms show three hands, and symbolise the historical court of justice, which had three members, the Dreigeschworenenrat (three-sworn-council). The court existed from 1566-1832 and had its seat in Jork.

The previous arms were granted in 1952, see below.

Those arms show three hands, and symbolise the historical court of justice, which had three members, the Dreigeschworenenrat (three-sworn-council). The court existed from 1566-1832 and had its seat in Jork.
