Origin/meaning
The arms were never officially registered.
The red and silver half of the arms is derived from the arms of the Bille family, who owned much of the territory of the municipality. The crown is a symbol for the independence of the municipality, the three leaves symbolise the three municipalities that merged in 1970.
The arms could not be registered as the gold and silver fields could not touch each other, according to the basic rules of heraldry. Also, the crown, described as a 'citizens' crown, is not an element known in Danish heraldry and was thus not allowed. The municipality, however, kept using the 'arms'.
