The deer could also be seen on the seal of the village in the 17<sup>th</sup> century. In the 18<sup>th</sup> century the town used quartered arms on its seal; showing in the first and fourth quarter the arms of the Lords of Eppstein, and in the second and third quarter the arms of the Lords of Münzenberg. The deer was added on an escutcheon.
