Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1937.

The upper half shows the barred lion of Hessen, as the town is part of Hessen since 1323. Previously the village had belonged to the Lords of Merenberg, hence the cross of the arms of the Merenberg family in the base.
