LOCHRISTI
Province : Oost-Vlaanderen
Additions : 1976 Beervelde, Zaffelare, Zeveneken
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on November 17, 1987.
The arms combine the old arms of Lochristi and Beervelde.
The previous arms were granted on September 25, 1947.
The lion in the arms is derived from the arms of the St. Bavo Abbey in Gent. The village of Lochristi was a possession of the abbey for many centuries (see also Oostakker, Sint-Amandsberg and Sint Lievens Houtem.
St. Nicholas is the patron saint of Lochristi.
