Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The oldest seals of the town are known since 1481. The seal showed a shield with in the upper part three diamonds, taken from the arms of Bayern. The area was a possession of the Wittelsbach family, Kings of Bayern. The lower part showed a canting square well (Kaltenbrunn=cold well). In the second seal, known since 1564, the diamonds were replaced by the points, but still in the Bavarian colours. In the 17th century the well was round, but otherwise the arms haven't changed.
