Province : Quebec

Origin/meaning

These arms have not been officially granted.

The lions represent the English colonial regime and appear on the episcopal emblem of Mgr Lionel Audet, native of Sainte-Marie. The swords and stars symbolize the former French colonial regime. The swords are taken from the Taschereau family emblem, the first seigneurial lords of Sainte-Marie. The white cross is the expression of the Catholic Church's presence on Sainte-Marie soil. The golden lily evokes the province of Quebec.

The waves represent the Chaudière River. Finally the maple leaves symbolise Beauce County, maple country. The Latin motto « Unum corpus sumus », which means « United in one body », proposes an ideal by expressing the wish for unity that the community of Sainte-Marie brings to all its undertakings.
