BIESSENHOFEN (until 1976 Altdorf)
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Ostallgäu
Additions : 1971 Ebenhofen
Official blazon
Gespalten von Silber und Blau; vorn eine bewurzelte grüne Linde, hinten ein goldener gekrönter und golden bewehrter silberner Löwe.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 5, 1956.
The linden tree is a symbol for the court held under a linden tree in Altdorf in the 14th century. The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Ronsberg, who ruled a large part of the municipality for a long time.
