GROSSMÜHLINGEN
State : Sachsen-Anhalt
District (Kreis) : Salzlandkreis (until 2008 Schönebeck)
Incorporated into: 2007 Bördeland
Official blazon
In Blau ein linksgewendeter silberner Adler mit goldener Bewehrung und roter Zunge.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1995.
The eagle is derived from the arms of the medieval Counts of Barby und Mühlingen. Even though the original colours were a silver eagle on red, the silver and blue have been used for more as 300 years as part of the arms of the Princes of Anhalt.
