OBERZEIRING
State : Steiermark
District : Murtal (until 2015 Judenburg)
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
In the Middle Ages, Oberzeiring was the main silver mine in Styria and Austria. The "Bergsegen" (lit: blessings of the mountain, i.e. the wealth) ended, when the mine suffered a break-in of subterranean waters in the 14th century.
The arms were first used on a seal from 1284. They show a miner in historical attire.
