The arms date already from the 13<sup>th</sup> century. The oldest known seal of the city dates from 1306 and shows already the lion with three stars. The lion probably is the lion of [[Habsburg]], as the city already before the granting of the city rights in 1300 was a possession of the Habsburg family. The colours were finally officially described in 1902.
