Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted in 1903.
The municipality used in the mid 19th century a seal with a sickle, rake and garb, symbols for agriculture. In 1903 the State Archives proposed as arms for the village a shield with an ox/bull head, the symbol of St. Sylvester, the local patron saint. The municipality, however, did not approve, but agreed with a second proposal. This proposal showed the sickle of the former seal surrounded by the typical bordure taken from the arms of the Counts (later Princes) of Fürstenberg. The village was part of the Fürstenberg State until 1803.
The initial arms showed the sickle as proper, the above blazoning was approved only in 1960.
