English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 3, 2009.

The arms sho win the upper half three wavy bars for the Neuseenland region, which is characterised by many man-made lakes. The tower is the tower of the Gnandstein castle in the district. The lower left half is based on the arms of the former Muldentalkreis.

In 2008 the district announced a competition for new arms and the winning design was chosen in November 2008.
The design showed a lion on a blue field surrounded by five stars. The district council, however, did not adopt this design, but the totally different arms above.
