Origin/meaning
Nennslingen received town rights in 1532 from Emperor Charles V. On August 27, 1582 Emperor Rudolf II granted the first arms to the town.
The arms showed in the upper half the arms of the Lords of Ehenheim (in black a silver bar) and the arms of the Schenk von Geyern family (divided of black and silver). The two families ruled the town at the time and had asked the emperor to grant the arms. The lower half shows a wall, from which flows a river. The wall symbolises the city, the river the Anlauter stream. All later seals showed these arms, which were confirmed in 1844.
