Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on September 24, 1964.
The bow and arrow are taken from the provincial arms of Savolax. The wavy division symbolises the river Koljonvirta. The axes symbolise the fact that the woods had to be cleared before the city could be built. The roses symbolise the flowers growing instead of the woods.
