Mit der stilisierten roten Burg wird an die Herren von Burgtor, ehemalige Ortsadelige, erinnert. Die drei silbernen Kugeln sind dem Siegel früherer Dienstmannen entnommen, von denen Werner von Münster (um 1197) und Heinrich von Münster (um 1310) bekannt sind. Ihre Burg soll westlich der Kirche gestanden haben.
