Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 1st, 1937 but have been used since 1926.
The area was situated near Lübeck, but was part of the County of Oldenburg since 1773. The upper part therefore shows the arms of the county and former state of Oldenburg. The lower part shows part of the arms of the State of Lübeck, which, in turn is derived from the former diocese of Lübeck, which existed until 1535. The area formed part of this diocese.
