History: raised in 1852 as the Fateh Paltan. During the Indian Mutiny of 1857 it helped quell the insurgents at Bharatpur. In 1900-1901 it was in action agaist the Boxers in China. During World War I the Unit served in Egypt and Palestine. In 1939 it was named Alwar Jey Paltan. During World War II it served again in the Middle East. Following Indian Independence in 1947, it served on internal security and Indo-Pakistan Border protection duties.
