Origin/meaning
The arms were first granted on granted on April 20, 1938 and new arms were granted on February 24, 1972.
The dog (Hund) in the old arms is a canting symbol and derived from the medieval Lords of Hundem, who founded the village and the local church. The two waves symbolise the two rivers that run through the village, the Lenne and the Hundembach.
The new arms are identical to the arms of the former Amt Kirchhundem.
