The arms were officially granted on ?

The stone wall refers to the local Friedewald castle and the fountain in the base is the local characteristic fountain. Together these are the landmarks of the village of Friedewald.

The four oak leaves represent the four villages in the municipality as well as the forests in the area. They also refer to the old '1000-year oak' in the village.
