SELZEN

State : Rheinland-Pfalz District (Kreis) : Mainz-Bingen (until 1969 Mainz)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Rhein-Selz

Wappen von Selzen/Arms (crest) of Selzen
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The village historically belonged to the State of Worms and in 1453 became a possession of the Pfalz. The arms combine the key of the State of Worms with the lion of the Pfalz. The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1537, which showed the same composition.

A proposal shown in 1956 with a crowned lion:

Wappen von Selzen/Arms (crest) of Selzen
