The arms were officially granted on April 1, 1986.

The bordure symbolises that the area was stategically important for Tirol, as a defence agains Bayern in the North. There were several fortifications in the area, notably the Loch High-castle. The reeds are a canting element, Pinswang means reed-meadow.
