Origin/meaning
The oak leaves in the first quarter are taken from the arms of the Von Bismarck Family (whose most famous member was Prince Otto von Bismarck first Chancellor of the German Empire created in 1871), after whom the town of Birsmarck was named. The silver cross is a clear Christian symbol.
